Seeking the Lord's presence

Jennifer Coley looks on as Reverend Jacob Powell prays for her son Cousine Afridi Robinson at the Sharon Baptist Church in Santa Cruz, St. Elizabeth. - George Henry

BY GEORGE HENRY, STAR Writer

MALVERN, ST. ELIZABETH:

When Jennifer Coley brought her son Cousine Afridi Robinson to Reverend Jacob Powell at the Sharon Baptist Church to be dedicated recently, it was because she wanted God's presence to be always around him.

Jennifer said she believes that when children are christened it makes a vast difference. She said she grew up in a Christian home and it is important that as a parent, she sets the example by taking her child to Christ for Christian dedication. She said that when children are christened, it is a sign that parents intend to allow their children to grow up in God.

"A little blessing from early is very good for the children. When they start out in Jesus from early, they are more loving and they have a better attitude towards their elders", said Jennifer.

Coley said although she was not a practising Christian, she believes that she can bring up her son to know Christ. She however admitted that if she was a Christian, she would be more effective in getting her child to know more about the Lord. She said it was very important that children grew up in the church, as they will get the opportunity to know what is right from what is wrong from a tender age. She noted that children who grow up in the church are less violent, and that they get a better opportunity to learn more about God.

Cousine is also the son of Clinton Robinson, and he was born at the Black River Hospital in St. Elizabeth on January 3 this year.
