Taking a bold step for God

Ten-year-old Ashleigh-Page Beersingh is held by an elder of the Hampton Court Seventh-day Adventist Church in St. Thomas shortly before her baptism. - Marlene McPherson

by Marlene McPherson, STAR Writer

Ten-year-old Ashleigh-Page Beersingh was one of three candidates immersed into the waters of baptism by Pastor Kevin White at about 6:00 p.m. at the Hampton Court Seven Day Adventist Church Stoke Hall, St. Thomas recently.

Ashleigh-Page, Oweeda Gregory and Beverley McDonald all choose to make a public declaration of their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ in front of the entire congregation of believers and friends. Each candidate had their favourite singer render a song of their choice, then made their vow and was baptised.

To reach this important milestone, they accepted Jesus as Lord, and a private interview was conducted by the elders after which they accepted the beliefs and practices of the church through a series of 13 questions. They must affirm their beliefs before they are accepted into the church.
