The Editor, Sir:
Good day, as a 79-year-old resident of Spanish Town I am asking you to put this in the opinion pages of THE STAR.
I have a question for the Mayor of Spanish Town and the MPs in whose constituency the city falls. My question is, why have they allowed the vendors to leave the market and settle on the streets where they ply their wares which they have used to block the way for both pedestrians and motorists?
It is a shame, because whenever one visits the market the only the cars and carts are parked there. Whenever someone is using Young Street and Manchester Street, there is nowhere to walk or drive because of this. The same can be said of French Street.
When Dr. Raymoth Notice was mayor, he did a good job of removing the vendors from the streets.
It is unfortunate that he was asked to resign from office because at least he knew what cleanliness was.
I want this letter to be given prominence, as when I was a child no one dared to sell on the streets.
I am, etc.,
79-year-old resident,
Spanish Town P.O.
