Trainer Wayne DaCosta - FILE

by Jimmie, Star Racing Writer

CHAMPION trainer Wayne DaCosta's HIDALGO gets the ideal distance to win tomorrow's 1500-metre ninth race after finishing five lengths fifth behind CALABASH BAY at 1300 metres on March 31.

Drawn widest in the nine-horse field and going a furlong longer, HIDALGO should be closing best over the final furlong as he's also nicely in at the weights with 50.5 kilos.

DaCosta's CHADMAN is again expected to keep the speedy MAJOR MAYER busy on the lead, setting it up for his stablemates, GOOD COMPANY and HIDALGO.

GOOD COMPANY had finished ahead of HIDALGO, three and a half-lengths fourth behind CALABASH BAY but could get trapped on the rail at post position two whereas HIDALGO will have a clear run down the backstretch.

NASATOL, who had beaten both DaCosta horses, finishing three and a half-lengths third, has been hiked to top weight 57.0 kilos and his stamina limitations should be exposed going a furlong longer.

Jackpots at $1.8m

BABY RENEE at 7-1 and COMMON 'D' at 9-1 in Monday's nightpan, sent all Pick-9 bets crashing but there were 12 winning Super-6 tickets, each picking up $218,797.

The Pick-9 has a $1 million carryover whereas the Super-6 will open with its $500,000 guarantee at the fifth race. In addition, there's also a Hi-Five carryover of $297,336.50 to the eighth race.

The day's feature events, the one-mile City of Kingston centenary Cup and the Dr. David 'Jack' Radix Memorial over 1820 metres, should be won by HERECOMESFUDGIE and SIR MOHANDAS BABA respectively.

HERECOMESFUDGIE reports off a four-month lay-up from a new barn, Noel Ennevor's, and should get the better of in-form SIR KHAN and ALL FIRED UP.

SIR MOHANDAS BABA gets his ideal trip in the 10th after storming home at a distance way short of his best, 1300 metres, when finishing two lengths third behind TYRONE SON on March 10.

Other firm fancies on the card are NUFF RESPECT in the opening event, WE WILL SEE at 1000 metres straight in the second and DEVIL WOMAN at the same distance in the third.
