Three men, who were charged in connection with the seizure of 45 kilograms of ganja in Anchovy, St. James, had the case against them adjourned sine die in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
RM Winsome Henry made the ruling after the prosecution expressed difficulty in ascertaining vital information in the matter.
The three - Dave Fenty, 43-year-old of Barbados; Shaun Brathwaite, 34, of Barbados and Canada addresses, and Randolph Williams of Ocho Rios, St. Ann - were facing charges
of possession, dealing and
trafficking ganja.
"You've got away with it this time but be very careful because now the police will be watching you closely," RM Henry told them.
The investigating officer met several roadblocks in his probe, as a witness refused to give a statement while another man who was allegedly loaned the vehicle, in which the drug was found, could not be located.
Allegations are that about
8 p.m.on February 25, the police were conducting spot checks along the Anchovy main road when they saw a Toyota Corolla travelling towards them.
However, the car stopped and reversed. The police then approached the car and found the vehicle unoccupied, with its engine and headlights on.
Further allegations are that the lawmen, acting on information, proceeded to a bar where they saw the three accused.
The police questioned the men and they were subsequently taken to the car, the trunk searched in their presence and the drug recovered. The foreigners allegedly said nothing. Williams also insisted that he knew nothing.
