Cyclist killed in St Catherine

spanish town

Pedal cyclist Neville Barrett, 38, became the 7th road fatality in the St Catherine North Division since January, when he was hit and killed by a motorcar.

Reports are that Barrett was riding towards Old Harbour when he was hit down by a Honda Motorcar about 6:40 am.

The car, driven by Clive Clarke of Hayes, Clarendon, was said to be travelling towards Spanish Town when he overtake a line of traffic, rode the right embankment and collided with Barrett's bicycle.

The vehicle was extensively damaged and Clarke charged with manslaughter after an initial investigation.

He later appeared before the Spanish Town RM Court and was remanded until March 27. By then the investigating officer Sergeant Osbourne Fearon hopes to complete the file.
