'Double trouble' for labourer

Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Ricardo Gordon, 19, a labourer of Fairfield Road, St Catherine, found himself in double trouble on Wednesday as, after being taken into custody on a warrant for carnal abuse, he was found with a policeman's cellphone.

Gordon was in the holding area of the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court when he was searched, and a Motorola Razr phone, belonging to Det. Sgt. Elisha Woodhouse, was found in his pocket.

The policeman told the court that he used the serial number to identity the phone. He went on that Gordon had even added a coat of blue paint to the phone to disguise it.

Having heard the allegations, the accused claimed it was sold to him by a schoolboy.

He was subsequently remanded and is to reappear in court on March 29 to answer to both charges.
