After many calls, a few cancellations and downright refusals, Tinafinally decided to tell her story.

It was just a few hours after Sara Lawrence's bombshell announcement of her decision to relinquish her title as Miss Jamaica World 2006, due to her decision to 'become a mother' that The STAR was informed that there was another woman in the picture.

The story we were told, pointed to Miss Lawrence being one of two women in a love triangle filled with lies, half -truths and deceit.

While it has not been proven by DNA evidence, there is at least one man who believes he is the father of the beauty queen's unborn child. This man was apparently also involved with Tina.

Tina, says she was involved in a serious relationship with the man who claims to be the father of Miss Lawrence's child, was still hesitant to talk despite the promise not to use her real name. In addition to the fear of backlash, the nature of her job forbids her becoming embroiled in public dispute or controversy.

A small place

"The world is a very small place. People will see this, his friends will support him, her friends will support her and people can be very antagonistic," she said.

But here we are. Tina, petite, beautiful, 33, but looks like 25, was involved with John, 29, bank teller by day, and member of a band by night, for about a year before she was aware that Sara was in the picture. The women were introduced and she was told by John at the time that Sara was his 'long-time friend.'

The saga began last year in December. At that time, Tina was informed by John, her boyfriend at the time, that he had 'cheated on' her with Sara.

He asked her to let them 'work it out' and she agreed.

By the end of January, she claims she was informed by John, that the beauty queen was pregnant with his child.

The nature of their 'friendship' was also made clear by photos she found on the Internet with the two together at Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival.

The STAR asked Tina why she finally conceded to tell her story now and not three months ago when she was told of the pregnancy.

"It was something pretty confidential and it was indicated to me that no decision had been made as to which way it would go and I was of the understanding that it was something that would be dealt with in a timely manner", she said.

She finally decided to talk to The STAR, "because it's such a public issue. It just seems that it's something that is coming up every day. It's harder to move on when you're constantly confronted with it."

Tina says this is so especially since most of what is covered is skewed toward one point of view.

"There is a sense of relief because at least I know that it's adding to the information that is available," she said.

She was very guarded in her responses to the questions posed by The STAR and refused to give his name.

"I just basically wanted to say I was involved with him. 'X' basically said he had a sexual encounter with her while we were together and she was pregnant with his child," she said.

"She basically hooked up with somebody who was in a relationship. As far as I know she was aware of that."

Tina, who kept the 'secret' for her boyfriend but found that she could no longer deal with the feelings on her own, eventually told her friends about the situation.

"I wasn't getting the kind of support from my Ex, my boyfriend at the time. It was a very distressing period. I couldn't handle it any more." "It was sort of too confusing. It was a lot of back and forthing."

Even now, she says, "Not everybody knows. But people who do know have given their support."

As to whether her knowledge of the pregnancy had anything to do with how and when the announcement was made, Tina says the effect, if any, was minimal.

"I have no idea. It might have sped things along a bit. I think the fact that somebody else knew about it might have had an impact, but I don't think it was very critical because from the time I was told to the time of the decision it was still a good few weeks before the announcement was made."

Tina has had no contact with Sara since finding out about the relationship and has had none since the announcement of the pregnancy. Sara has not tried to speak to her about it either.

"She hasn't contacted me, no way, at all," Tina said. However, "He has apologised."

The STAR had to ask whether she might have been misinformed about the events by her boyfriend.

"I can't say everything was said, or it was said exactly the way it happened," she said.

While she is hesitant to say what her feelings are towards John and Sara now, she conceded, "I think I've moved on. I don't call him or try to have any contact whatsoever with him."

When contacted, John asked that The STAR call back, but up to press time his phone rang without an answer. Sara Lawrence was said to be 'in the country' and could not be reached for comment.
