NPG basketball play-offs in full swing

Aqua Youths and Meadows All-Stars can this evening join Jamaica Defence Force in the semi-finals of the NPG Southern Conference Basketball League. Both teams enter game two of their best-of-three quarter-final series with a 1-0 lead.

Playing simultaneously at the National Stadium Courts at 6:00 p.m., Aqua play Eastern Pistons while Meadows face Selassie Gardens. If a game three is required, it will be played tomorrow. Port Royal Bulls or Waterhouse will fill the other semi-final spot as they meet in game three at 7:45 p.m. today.

JDF became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals when they completed a 2-0 sweep of Hagley Park Thorns on Tuesday. Jonah Atkinson scored 17 points to lead the army men to a dominating 84-43 victory in game two.

Port Royal Bulls avoided a sweep and levelled their series against Waterhouse with a close 77- 71 victory. Paul Brown top scored for the Bulls with 19 points and grabbed 11 rebounds.

In game one of their series, Aqua defeated Eastern Pistons 76-59 led by a game-high 28 points and 17 rebounds by Derron Jackson.

Christopher Jennings, tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds in Meadows' close 60-58 win over Selassie Gardens.
