Wolmer's Boys advance

Wolmer's Boys yesterday secured their spot in the quarter-finals after a convincing win over Old Harbour High.

The match was, for the most part, dominated by the Wolmerians, and though Old Harbour High tried valiantly, they were simply no match for the determined team from Wolmers. The first section of the match was perhaps the most competitive and the only section where Old Harbour showed some real fire. At the end of this segment, Wolmer's was in front on 10, while Old Harbour was on six.

Old Harbour's performance in the second section left much to be desired. Though the Wolmer's team was not at its peak, they did enough to maintain and expand on the lead they had established from the first segment. Both teams performed poorly in the first minute but managed to redeem themselves in the other two. At the sound of the bell, Wolmer's was on 25 and Old Harbour on 14, after both teams lost a point each.

The final section of the match was not very exciting. Again, Wolmer's dominated and Old Harbour struggled to keep up. They made two successful buzzes during this round, but these were cancelled by two incorrect buzzes. Wolmer's on the other hand, gained 10 additional points to push their final tally to 35. Old Harbour High was still on 14.

Wolmer's Boys' coach, Nicholas Earle, felt his team did well: "The boys played well. It was their best match for the season and we're just taking it one step at a time."

Old Harbour's coach, Sherene Walker, was disappointed with her team's performance. She said, "Even though they lost, I was expecting a much better performance. They lost a lot of points especially in the buzzer section when they needed aggression to overcome Wolmer's. We just have to go back and try harder for next year."

The Old Harbour Team: Romerio Levy (Capt.), Mesha Hayden, Anita Beckford, Robert Williams.

The Wolmer's Team: Charles Ball, Ocasta Haye, Jabari Wellington, Dorian Beckford (Capt.).
