The men's mile relay could be the closest among the institution and clubs at Saturday's Gibson Relays.
High Performance Training Centre (HPTC) is the favourite, but MVP is hell-bent on causing an upset. G.C. Foster College should also be among the top teams, especially after their second-place finish at Western Relays.
HPTC, with Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jermaine Gonzales and Grenadian Roger Polydor, clocked a record 3:08.14 seconds at Western Relays to beat MVP's previous mark of 3:08.18.
Come Saturday with the inclusion of Usain Bolt, who ran 45.92 at the Camperdown Classics, HPTC will be very difficult to beat and could post a faster time.
Track and field analyst Hubert Lawrence believes HPTC are the favourite, but says MVP could be a surprise team.
"The fastest institution has been High Performance Training Centre with 3:08.14 in Montego Bay. They are leading the list and they broke MVP's record, but if MVP comes out with a full team it should be a very good race," Lawrence said.
MVP are playing their cards close to their chest, but with the likes of Gregory Little, Lawrence Mendez, Andre Drummond and Chumaine Fitten, they should figure prominently.
G. C. Foster with Allodin Fothergill and Michael Mason, finished second at Western Relays in 3:10.40, and coach Maurice Wilson anticipates a faster time that should place them close to the top.
"We ran 3:10 at Western Relays and we did not run at full strength. I am hoping we can run two seconds faster, but I am not sure if that can win," he said.
