A confessed drug addict, who allegedly chopped and stoned two persons in his community, was remanded for psychiatric evaluation and legal aid assignment when he appeared before the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
When Guy McGhie of Maroon Town, St. James, appeared before RM Winsome Henry he was told to reserve his explanations for his attorney.
"Your Honour, yuh can't just listen to one side of a story because there is always two sides to a story," he said.
McGhie, who has appeared before the court on other charges, is charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and wounding with intent.
He is scheduled to return to court on March 6.
One of his relatives who was in court asked RM Henry to assist in getting McGhie into a rehabilitation programme to deal with his cocaine addiction.
Allegations are that on January 26, the complainant was in Maroon Town when McGhie confronted him about statements he allegedly made about his sexual preference. The accused then allegedly threw stones at the complainant, hitting him on the foot and head.
Further allegations are that at about 8:30 a.m. on February 9, the second complainant was walking along the Maroon Town main road when McGhie approached him about cleaning up a toilet that he claims the complainant's son had left untidy.
The complainant proceeded to walk away when he heard someone shouted "look out". McGhie allegedly chopped at the complainant who used his arm to block the weapon, wounding him. He was also chopped on the shoulder.
When McGhie was arrested he allegedly said, "Everybody want fi kill mi an mi nah mek dem kill mi."
