A man answering charges of illegal possession of ammunition was granted bail in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
When Dwayne Andrade appeared before RM Winsome Henry, he was adamant that he only had ganja in his possession. Andrade insists that he knows nothing of the ammo charge.
He was only charged with possession of ammunition despite the police allegations that a handmade gun was found in his home in Lilliput, St. James.
"Is a twenty (dollar) bag a weed dem hold mi wid Your Honour, mi nuh know nuttin bout no ammunition," he contested.
The accused who had a previous case of wounding in 2002 was granted $30,000 bail in his own surety. He is to report to the Barrett Town Police Station on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Andrade returns to court on March 7. He is also to receive legal aid assignment, as he is unable to afford an attorney.
Allegations are that on February 3 the police were on patrol in Lilliput.
It is said that Andrade, on seeing the officers, ran and was chased and held. During a subsequent search of his home the police seized a RPS and W40 gauge cartridge, as well as a home-made handgun.
