Richie Spice - Claudine Housen
Artiste: Richie Spice
Genre: Reggae
Rating : ❏❏❏❏
Deep, conscious thinking reflected in smooth reggae is not always easy to find. However, Richie Spice does not disappoint with his signature "oh na na na" ringing throughout the album. Spice announces his status in the music scene. A 15-track CD with some of Spice's popular songs such as the slow hit Groovin My Girl and Youth Dem Cold among others, you'll be pulling up and rewinding listening to In The Streets To Africa track for track.
In the tradition of reggae fore-fathers, Bob Marley and Peter Tosh, Richie Spice gets down to the nitty gritty, unafraid to speak his mind. For those who like to relax to soothing, sometimes slow, then Richie Spice is one to listen to. From discussing his beautiful woman in his latest hit Brown Skin, to compelling the people to rise up in Get Up and having fun in Mind Off of Me, Spice speaks about many different issues.
Lyrically and vocally the album is strong, yet in terms of the beat there is not much variety. There was not much experimentation with different genres or even with a variety of more intense beats. There were no collaborations, which, although not a necessity, would have taken away from the sameness of the songs.
Despite this, In The Streets To Africa is a gem among reggae albums, especially for a non veteran artiste. Many young and older persons can identify with the topics and a number of the songs.
