When electronics repair technician Trevor, who works on Mannings Hill road, sees 'owner migrating' in the Sunday classifieds, which he goes through religiously, his buying antennae goes up.
He does not only repair but also sells radios, televisions and most household appliances, assessing each item for parts or resale.
"When you have to leave you have to leave. You can't take the things with you and most people know better now than to leave things with family who say they will send the money. That never work yet," he said.
So he looks at the adver-tisements, makes an initial visit to the sales that look promising, then, depending on the condition of the items and what he needs, starts a 'wait and see' game. And it often works to his advantage.

"Me get some things all half price to what people say they want," Trevor said.
And he does not have a guilty conscience. "Business is business. Is so it go. If I was to sit down and think about the people who I am buying from I would not make a cent for me and my family. Them not thinking about me when them selling at the high price they want. Is just so business go," he said.
On the other hand, he tries to not be in a position where he has to sell and therefore reduce his price drastically. "What I do is make sure that the smaller things and the repairs turning over, so the big fridge and so on I can hold on to a price. Is not that I don't come down, because you have to bargain, but I must be able to say no further," Trevor said.
