The gift of a child

Baby Raymanda with parents Raymond and Marie Robbins after she was christened at the Glad Tidings Church of the First Born, 17 Laws Street last Sunday. - Ricardo Makyn

It was a day of blessing in the lives of Raymond and Marie Robbins as their two-month-old baby was given up to the Lord to be christened at the Glad Tidings Church of the First Born on February 4.

The Laws Street church in Kingston was filled with joyful moments as Pastor Nugent Fraser christened baby Raymanda Robbins.

The child was born on November 18 last year, at the Nuttal Hospital. Reverend Fraser told the couple that they were indeed blessed to bring such a lovely baby into the world. He added that the baby was a gift from God which they should cherish.

Raymond, a taxi operator, and Marie, a civil servant, were ecstatic for the blessing that was bestowed upon little Raymanda, who kept smiling as if she enjoyed the attention which was being placed on her.

Both parents told THE STAR Life and Times that it was indeed a special day, not only in the life of their child, but also in the parents' lives. They added that the event was meaningful and that children were given the rite of christening at an early age, so that they could have God's protection and blessing throughout their lives.

It was indeed a special day, not only in the life of their child, but also in the parents' lives.
