Two taken in custody

Spanish Town

Two men were taken into custody by the Old Harbour police and charged with attempted bribery after they offered $30,000 to the police for the release of a women who was arrested by them.

Those charged are Michael Reynolds of May Pen, Clarendon, and Wilbert Miller, a fisherman, of Old Harbour Bay, St. Catherine.

Reports are that about noon, the police conducted a raid in Old Harbour, during which a women was held for illegal gambling. About two hours after, Miller and Reynolds went to the Old Harbour Police Station and reportedly offered to pay the police the money.

The police say a sting operation was reportedly set up during which time they were caught handing over the money to the lawmen. The two were subsequently held and taken into custody. They were later charged.

They will appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, February 13.
