The dangers of backyard burning were once gain emphasised when fire reduced a three bedroom dwelling along Windward Road to a burnt-out shell on Monday evening.
The Constabulary Communication Network reports that at 3:00 p.m. the occupants of the of the house lit a fire to burn rubbish.
The fire got out of control and spread to the house. Attempts by the residents to put out the fire were unsuccessful and the fire brigade was summoned.
Two units, one from Rollington Town and the other from York Park Fire department extinguished the blaze. Loss is estimated at $200,000 and the house was not insured. No one was injured in the incident.
The Elleston Road police are investigating.
