CD: Bad From we born
Genre: Dancehall
Artiste: Coppershot Disco
Rating: 3 stars out of four
With an expert touch, Coppershot Disco easily transitions from song to song on their latest mix CD, Bad From We Born. A wholly-dancehall mix, the CD features some of the newest songs from the hottest artistes. From Mavado's Dying to Sean Paul on Make Your Body, Sizzla's Think Before You Talk, Shaggy's Church Heathen and Busy Signal's Powercut.
Although it doesn't have the intro nor the downtown flair of Coppershot's last mix CD, Bad From We Born shows a different level of badness. This mix has no talking but straight music, which shows the versatile talents and different styles of mixing music coming from the sound. Littered in-between the songs are Coppershot's signature dubs from Aidonia, Bounty Killer, Elephant Man and even Caribbean sensation Rihanna.
While the CD has a party vibe throughout, it tells the no holds barred story of the passa passa in the dancehall of late. The last 12 songs from the 89-track CD go into full clashing mode with back-to-back songs from Aidonia, Bounty Killer and especially track-for-track from Mavado and Addi Di Teacha. For example there is Mr Palmer from Mavado aimed at Addi, who counteracts with Mafraudo.
Interestingly, the sound mixes in Sean Paul's Where is the Love in the midst of the gun tunes, as the artiste pleads for love in the community.
The low down is that Bad From We Born is an acute representation of the dancehall at the moment, which is without a doubt rated for adults only.
