A 28-year-old woman, who has been in custody since last November facing a charge of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm, after she allegedly doused her 84-year-old stepmother with Gramoxone, was last Thursday offered bail in the sum of $200,000 with one or two sureties, when she appeared in the Santa Cruz Resident Magistrate Court.
Shanai Ruhedul of Seven-Corner, Leeds district, St. Elizabeth, is booked to appear in the next sitting of the St. Elizabeth Circuit Court in March, as the case was committed to circuit by RM Stanley Clarke.
She was told by the RM to report to the Nain Police Station every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
It's alleged that on November 26 last year, the accused had an argument with the complainant, Ms. Alma Muschet. During the argument, the senior citizen was allegedly doused with the liquid. She was hospitalised for two weeks.
