Alleged burgler remanded

By Rasbert Turner, Star Writer

Spanish Town

Damion Bookal, a 25-year-old labourer from Kitson Town District, St. Catherine, opened his mouth wide when he was remanded in custody on charges of housebreaking and larceny yesterday in the Spanish Town RM Court.

Detective Sergeant Kirk Roache told RM Lorna Errar Gayle that on December 10 last year, a police party conducted a series of raids in the Bendon District of St. Catherine. During the raids several household articles and appliances, including televisions, stereos, sheet sets, beds and other items valued over a million dollars, were recovered at Bookal's residence and he was arrested and charged with housebreaking and larceny.

The detective added that several persons have turned up to identify the stolen items.

Some of these persons, he told the court, came from Longville Park housing scheme. After hearing the allegations, the RM then revoked Bookal's $30,000 bail bond and remanded him until February 23. He was not represented when he appeared in court.
