Five shot, three dead in separate

Five men remain in hospital following a shooting incident along Red Hills, St. Andrew, in which one man was killed on Monday night.

Dead is 21-year-old Stephen Campbell, otherwise called 'Head of Sting' of Karl Samuda Boulevard, Kingston 19. The injured men range in ages from 16 to 34 and are from Sunrise Crescent and Molynes Road addresses.

Police reports are that at 6:45 p.m., Campbell was among a group of men standing outside a cook shop along Red Hills Road when a blue Toyota motor car drove up. Four gunmen came from the vehicle and immediately started firing shots at the men.

Was ambushed

Six of the men were hit and taken to hospital, where Campbell was pronounced dead and the others admitted in serious but stable condition. The Major Investigation Task Force is investigating.

Later that night at 8 p.m., a mason who was walking home from work was ambushed by two men who stabbed and beat him to death along Ashley Road in Glengoffe, St. Catherine. According to the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), dead is Devon Smith, 41 years old of Ashley district. Smith was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Glengoffe police who are investigating have already arrested two men in connection with the murder, but they have not yet been charged.

The bloody night continued when a 43-year-old man was shot dead by an unknown assailant at a service station at Guinep Tree, May Pen, Clarendon.

Dead is Leroy Shoulder of Wood Hall district, Chapelton, in the parish.

Police reports are that at 9:45 p.m., a gunman armed walked up to Shoulder and opened fire killing him. The police were called and the body was removed to the morgue for post-mortem.

The May Pen police who are investigating have not yet established a motive for the murder.
