By Analee Bernard, Star Writer

Black River

A man who was wanted for murder by the Santa Cruz police, and who has been on the run since April 11, 2005, was captured by police in the Corporate Area and handed over to their St. Elizabeth counterparts.

He is Roger McKenzie of Newcombe Valley district in St. Elizabeth. He was wanted for the murder of his babymother Rosemarie Newman, 30, who was murdered on April 11, 2005.

The allegations are that about 3 a.m. that morning, Ms. Newman and a relative was at a bus stop at Longwood, in Santa Cruz, when Mckenzie, approached her and used a knife to stab her in her neck and back. She died on the spot.

McKenzie appeared in the Black River RM Court before Resident Magistrate Mr. Stanley Clarke and was remanded in custody until January 17 when his case will again be mentioned.
