Salt Marsh residents not pleased with new drain

By Richard Morais, Star Writer

Trelawny

While many have seen the building of many drains in the general Salt Marsh area of Trelawny as a good thing, the move is not going down too well with residents.

The residents say the main drain at the junction of the Salt Marsh main road and the road coming from Goodwill is too small to take the volume of water that is likely to pass through when flooding occurs. They added that the original drain, which used to overflow, was larger than the one now being built.

The residents say they want a revision of the plan, even if it will take a longer time to complete the highway and subsequently inconvenience the public.

They say that they are mindful of finishing the highway before the Cricket World Cup but believe that the nation's people are also very important also.
