After a long-standing relationship of 22 years between Beenie Man and Shocking Vibes, the company has made it official that they no longer have anything to do with Beenie.

"All ties with Beenie Man are severed from a management standpoint," Shocking Vibes' Patrick Roberts said.

The comment came after an official press release had been issued in light of reports carried in the media regarding the dissolution of the relationship between artiste and label.

A section of the release said, "While we are no doubt proud of our association with the artiste and his immeasurable talents, we think it is important to state that our relationship was not without its challenges, many of which were in the public domain."

It continued, "... We therefore view with some concern the statements attributable to Mr. Davis, which would suggest that it has been the failure of the management to understand the dynamics of the business ... Which has prevented him from achieving the potential warranted by his superlative talent. This we would contend cannot be substantiated."

No obligations

The release ended by wishing Beenie all the best in living "up to the expectations of his remarkable talent."

In the meantime, Roberts says: "All bookings (by Shocking Vibes) have been honoured so we have no obligations. The last thing with Shocking Vibes was last night (Thursday), an office party in Mobay and he (Beenie) went."

"It's sad, but it's the reality, that after 22 years of association it has ended (the relationship with Beenie Man). So through this medium, we want to be cleared. Shocking Vibes cannot be held responsible for anything having to do with the artiste," Roberts warned.

He also added, "Shows like Camp Fire, Unity Splash, Jam Jam that are now being advertised, were not booked by Shocking Vibes, he did that on his own."

When asked whether they would seek another headline talent for the agency or continue as is, Roberts said that Shocking Vibes would continue after Beenie because, "at the end of the day, Shocking Vibes is a production house that deals with artiste management, record production, entertainment consultancies, concert and events planning, so artistes will always come."
