Ity, Fancy Cat show premiered

by Teino Evans, Staff Reporter

Comedians Fancy Cat, left, and Ity gave the audience something to laugh about at the launch of the Ity and Fancy Cat show yesterday. - Norman Grindley

Many turned out, whether out of mere curiosity or to support "the launch of an idea," as Blakka Ellis described it.

Ity and Fancy Cat's late night show was officially launched yesterday at the Palace Cineplex in Sovereign Centre.

The show's pilot gave a taste of what was to come and begged only one question, "Is this a good idea or what?"

One answer, yes!

The preview had a full house at the Palace Cineplex in stitches, as they did skits, stand-up routines, entertainment news, views and interviews and a search in the streets for the 'Joke of the Day'.

To give a beter idea of how much laughter one can expect, the show started with the women of Dance Xpressionz moving to Aidonia's Ukku song. They were later joined by Fancy Cat who attempted to dance to the rhythm with the females, but was stopped in his tracks by Ity.

"Yo Fancy, a wah yuh a do?"

Ity then begged the selector to "play a real bad man tune". But when the Dutty Wine song was played, just the look of disbelief on Ity's face had persons rolling with laughter on the floor inside Palace Cineplex.

Another scene that readily comes to mind was one shot at the Dream Cut Barber Shop in Central Plaza.

Ity, dressed as a Rasta and Fancy Cat, his flagman, stormed into the barber shop shouting at the top of their voices, "Yo, bun barba, bun Babylon system, bun all comb an razor."

True or false

Ity then said to a lady sitting in the hairdresser's chair, "Mi have one question fi yuh hair, true or false?" Laughing spoil!

There were performances by fellow comedian Lemon, and an interview with Etana, who also performed her single, Wrong Address.

But without a doubt, viewers can look forward to variety with added humour.

"Suh it nah show again?" one person asked at the end of the viewing. But if that pilot was anything to go by, then what Ity and Fancy Cat have in store is going to be simply awesome and full of humour.

Double Take Media came up with the concept and has decided to produce the Ity and Fancy Cat late night show. However, they are still inviting sponsors and interested television stations to come on board.
