There has been yet another fall-out between artiste and management company, the latest episode being between deejay Assassin and Penthouse Records.
When contacted by The Star, Assassin was tight-lipped about the details. "Mi nuh really waan get inna dat right now, but Assassin is no longer with Penthouse. Mi jus waan get dat out to di masses," he said.
Assassin says all parties
concerned came to the agreement that this was the best decision, "but (that) there are no malicious feelings."
In the meantime, Assassin says, Headline Entertainment will
handle his management and bookings locally, while his brother, Gareth Campbell, will handle his overseas business. "Him (Gareth) deh pon di road wid mi from day one, suh him a basically mi
manager now. But a nuh like a nobody new, he was a part of the old system."
Future
As to what the future holds for Assassin and Penthouse Records, Assassin says, Let's just take it one step at a time, Mi is not one fi predict di future."
Donovan Germain was also unwilling to comment on the situation, but gave this as his official statement.
"Germain is just busy in the
studio and is really concentrating on his production. Gareth has always been a part of his (Assassin's) management team so this is just a transition to another level and he (Gareth) has just taken up the position full time," Donovan Germain was quoted as saying.
Some of the songs that Assassin recorded under Penthouse included Youths Well Cold featuring Freddie McGregor and Big Mix featuring Red Square.
But Assassin, who has been with Penthouse since 1999 says, "Most of the work weh me an Penthouse do a nuh di local hits and di truth of the matter is that it wasn't a great bulk of work
neither. But from ever since Assassin start, I've been a part of the whole thing (Penthouse)."
