DENBIGH High denied Holmwood Technical the double at yesterday's ISSA/Digicel rural schoolgirls netball finals at G.C. Foster College.

Holmwood lifted the senior title but were beaten by Denbigh for the junior crown. Holmwood's seniors beat Edwin Allen High 32-24 but their juniors were outclassed 22-14 by the slick moving Denbigh girls.

In tomorrow's all-island finals at the Leila Robinson Courts, Holmwood will face Dunoon Technical seniors while in the junior match Denbigh will play Queen's High for the title.

"I think this game boiled down to who wanted it most and I think Holmwood wanted it, they played for it. Having beaten Holmwood in the second round they (the team) were a bit complacent. I tried to tell them that the second round is history and this is the finals," Minneth Reynolds, coach of Edwin Allen, said.

Carline Graham, Holmwood's coach, explained that her team lost their second round match because they had some internal problems.

"From beginning we knew we had the game in our hands, the girls only had to keep their composure and follow through to the end," she said.

She added that Holmwood were well prepared and national players Kaniggia Buckle, Samantha Martin and Simone Swaby brought much experience to the team.
