Bounty Killer - File
When Twin of Twins/Kingston 13 productions held 'Ghetto Holiday' at Jerkey's, Greenvale, Mandeville, last Friday night, many patrons got more than their usual dose of entertainment.
From selectors like Cash Money stirring up the early musical vibes, fresh acts being cheered on or off the stage and the 'warlord', Bounty Killer, reeling hit after hit from his massive catalogue of songs, it was really a welcome 'holiday'.
Steady vibe
After selectors managed to build a steady vibe leading into the first round of artistes to take the stage at 2:04 a.m., patrons were by this time hungry to get into the real action.
So when one of the fresh acts called for the selector to "pull uuuup", he was loudly greeted with, "a you need fi pull di fup off a di stage," from a man in the audience.
Well, patrons had to endure another round of selectors before the real deal got started on stage with deejay Teflon at approximately 3:45 a.m.
'Gangster for life', Mavado, then took the stage singing "Gangsta nuh quarrel", before he paused to inform, "when mi come a gyaldeville mi haffi chat new tune," before he dropped a couple of lines from one of his new singles.
But 'Gyaldeville' got real 'Busy' when Mavado called fellow Alliance member to join him on stage for Full Clip and after taking turns on the one mic to deejay their individual tunes, the two combined once again for Badman Place.
Mr. Peppa also managed to maintain the vibes when he followed on stage immediately, as he performed one of his current hits, Gangsta Guerrilla. But when Peppa fell from the stage, after a brief moment of silence and persons wondering if he was hurt, Peppa said calmly, "that's betta."
Other artistes like Future Fambo, Lexxus, General B and Lutan Fyah also grabbed a piece of the action on stage, but at 4:30 a.m. when Bounty arrived, the pleasant surprise triggered loud cheers and screams around the venue.
Rare moods
Killer wasted no time in getting into some of his lyrical hits like Eagle An Di Hawk and then warned, Warlord Nuh Business and "Mi a man weh nuh normal."
Rodney Pryce was in one of those rare moods, where he came to deejay and have fun. He even treated patrons to some oldies like, Benz and Bimmer and Look Into My Eyes.
The Twin of Twins then stepped on stage to interject in the Killer's performance as they did Scale and Gill and after giving 'big-ups' to Rodney Pryce, they handed over back to Killer, who continued to thrill the audience.
"A nuff a dem mi bring een an dem guh out back lean," Killer said. He then delivered another round of heavy artillery lyrics, among them, Gun Nuh Join Lodge.
Bounty also apparently felt the need to issue a warning.
"Mi nuh waan nuh more celebrity death inna dancehall," Bounty warned, adding, "dis likkle dread bwoy weh a talk bout Alliance murder his brother," before declaring War.
He later added, "Remember dem seh yuh deh pon di tape ... wi still waiting on a response and silent means consent."
K-Queens and Jagwa later managed to get their minute in the spotlight but the Twin of Twins returned to the stage to take probably the biggest 'forward' for the night with this comment:
"Every time yuh kiss Angel yuh suck Bounty c!"
But the Killer could not take his leave from the stage without addressing one other matter, as he said, almost in prayer-like fashion, "forgive them, they know not what they do. Beenie Man mash up Kartel life ... we don't kill Judas, dem wi kill dem self."
