Dear Pastor,

My boyfriend of one year has recently moved to the U.S. to be with me. He is Jamaican and I am not. We met via a friend in Florida and communicated regularly until he was able to move here.

I love him and he loves me but I recently found out he is obsessed with internet porn and dating sites. He signed up with these sites using bogus names and aliases with fictitious information about himself.

I questioned him about it and he said he is in love with me and will never cheat on me. This seems wrong to me and it is very hurtful. My belief on why he does this is because he is bored. He has not made new friends here yet and is only working part time.

We don't live together. I try to lead a Christian lifestyle but we do have sex one to two times per week which I know is wrong. I know he is highly sexual and may be this is his outlet until we can be together on a regular basis.

But everytime I see another post or site I get more depressed and wonder if this is the future of our relationship. Is this what the typical Jamaican man is like ... play around on the internet all day checking out these sites? Please advise me

Lots of men get hooked on porn, whether or not they are Americans, Europeans, Africans or Caribbean.

So, I don't know why you asked if this is typical of Jamaican men. The internet is loaded with porn from North America. The truth is what this man needs is help. If he is hooked, he needs professional help.

What he is doing will hurt him and he may even go to the extent of getting involved with other women.

They may lure him into doing things and going to places to meet them. He may also waste his money on girls who are paid to sexually excite men on certain cites. So if you really love this man, try and get him some help.
