Two straight for Ardenne

Robert Bailey, STAR Writer

Ardenne High registered their second consecutive victory of the 2006-2007 ISSA/KFC Southern Conference Under-19 Basketball competition when they defeated hosts Calabar 65-62 yesterday.

Lead by a team high 17 points, 14 rebounds and eight steals form Andrew Khan, Ardenne took a 32-24 lead at the half-time break.

On the resumption, Ardenne continued to dominate the action as Khan was supported by team-mates Alex Lumbsey 15 points, eight rebounds and Matthew Fletcher 14 points and nine rebounds and they ended the third quarter leading 51-39.

Calabar, fought back gallantly in the fourth period as Omari Williams with his game high 25 points 10 rebounds, cut the deficit to five points with less than two minutes remaining. Ardenne, however, held their nerve in the final moments of the game and posted a fine victory.
