THE EDITOR, Sir:
I went to the St. Jago Health Centre in Spanish Town to visit the doctor.
It was so embarrassing. First before you see the doctor, you have to do an interview with someone at the front desk with no privacy.
It is like this, you join a line at the outside of a grill door before you enter. When you enter there is a chair right where the grill door is, a piece of cloth separates the chair and the grill door.
A man who monitors the gate and the line sits right beside you, but not that close. A small walk way to come in, separates you from this man, and there are people sitting on a bench in front of you. When you enter you have to tell the person doing the interview why you have come to see the doctor.
When this lady asked me why I came to see the doctor I was dumb for a minute. I had no choice I kept whispering and felt so ashamed in this big room with no privacy.
I kept thinking maybe I should have bought a Gleaner before I came in, so humiliating having to talk with everyone hearing, including that man staring at you and
listening to every word.
I am, etc.,
