Heed the words of the prophet

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Marcus Garvey in one of his narrative's stated, "Until the Negro reaches the point of national independence, all he does as a race will count for naught, because the prejudice that will stand out against him even with his ballot in his hand, with his industrial product to show, will be of such an overwhelming nature as to perpetuate mob violence and mob rule, from which he will suffer and which he will not be able to stop with his industrial wealth and with his ballot."

What a prophecy. This seems to be the situation plaguing Jamaica these days, firstly because our politicians will speak with a forked tongue of what they can give to their supporters and sympathisers, yet never give them anything.

Secondly, they will say they are all for peace and love yet in their hearts they harbour war.

Thirdly, supporters of the two main political parties will maim and murder their black brothers and sisters yet their doings usually work out to naught.

And finally, our so-called leaders take leadership as their own little property instead of seeing it as an opportunity to interact with the people who give them the position to govern.

I declare our Jamaican politicians and their loyal supporters morons of epic proportions.

I am, etc.,
