The performances of national striker Luton Shelton in Sweden, where he represents First Division club Helsinborgs, has not gone unnoticed.
Star Sports understands the 21-year-old free-scoring forward who leaves defenders in his wake because of his quickness of feet and brain is being sought by a number of clubs in Europe and could be on his way out of Sweden as early as January when the transfer window reopens.
Among the countries Shelton could head to are England and Italy.
"Yes. I hear that there are some clubs looking at me. I understand that Sheffield has some scouts looking at me. Hopefully I might make the move," Shelton told Star Sports recently.
"I understand that the coach will come over and have a look at me so if I impress him then hopefully I will make the move in January."
If the England move does not come through then Shelton, who was also being eyed by Championship team Burnley before he was stopped by a failure to qualify for a work permit last year, could head to Italy or elsewhere in continental Europe.
"I think there are other clubs looking. I am hearing talk as well about continental Europe, but that is for my agent to handle. One of the clubs I have heard about is in Italy," the former Harbour View player said.
goal every two games
Shelton, who has a very high strike rate for the national team, has carried that form to Sweden where he scores a goal almost every two games. In the league he has so far scored nine times in 19 games. In the Cup knockout competition he scored five times in four games to give his team the title and a place in the UEFA Cup play-offs.
"I am really happy with my performance because we have won the Cup and next year we should be in the UEFA Cup play-offs so I am more than happy with the performance. It means more exposure and a chance for me to compete against better opposition and to improve. This is if I am still here of course," the former Wolmer's schoolboy concluded.
