Clayton Lawrence, the police corporal accused of being involved in the abduction of two men from a plaza on Washington Boulevard, St. Andrew, in 2004, will have to wait until December for the hearing of his case to continue.
Lawrence's case was mentioned in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
The clerk of court said they needed another mention date because they were trying to contact a witness who had gone oversees.
bail entended
After the hearing, Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey agreed and set the case to be heard on December 11. Lawrence's bail was also extended until the next trial date.
Allegations are that on December 23 last year, Kemar Walters, 20, of Kitson Town, St. Catherine, and Oliver Duncan, 35, of Olympic Way, St. Andrew, were abducted from a plaza on Washington Boulevard. It is reported that the men were allegedly taken away by policemen identifying themselves as members of the Organised Crime Investigative Division (OCID).
Corporal Clayton, who was one of three cops taken into custody in connection with the incident, was arrested in January following a ruling by the Director of Public Prosecutions after an identification parade failed to point out the policemen.
