Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey Saddam fi heng, but Bota dead easy an' nice an' Bush jus' a gwaan live.
So Saddam Hussein has been sentenced to hang by the neck until he is dead. It was expected, long trial and all. When one country invades another and sets up a court to try the leader it overthrew, then the guilty verdict is never in doubt. For Jackass, Saddam living or dying is neither here nor there. He was a friend of the United States and when friends fall out anything can happen.
But then a guy named P.W. Botha died in South Africa last week and Jackass had to think that, as usual, the world is not level at all.
P.W. Botha was the boss in South Africa for 11 years under just about the worst of a thing called apartheid. For those who do not remember (you know, Black people are quick to forget what happened to them and who did it, as long as it is another race), apartheid was the system under which Black people were shot, shut out, had dogs set on them, worked to the bone and tortured. Yet not only did Botha not go on trial, he was supported from state funds after he left office in 1989. Plus, when he died, the government ordered the flags across the country to be flown at half-mast.
The world is not level at all, because there is absolutely no difference between Saddam and Botha. There is, however, a difference in their skin colour, and that, my two-footed readers, is the heart of the matter.
You see, justice is a thing that is delivered by those who have power and often that has nothing to do with right or wrong. What is right, or at least okay, and what is wrong has a lot to do with whom the deed is done to. In fact, it has everything to do with who the deed is done to, and if it is done to Black people it's okay, it's alright.
And if it is done by white people, it is even more okay, it is even more alright. If it is done to people who are not white by people who are not white, but who are friends of the white people, it is also fine, at least, until they fall out. (Hey, Jackass knows that y'all didn't have any trouble following that, because two-foot people have brains, right?)
Seriously, though, it is unlevel like Shabba Ranks' long-time hairstyle that Saddam should be sentenced to hang and Botha not even have to apologise, much less go on trial.
And then there is Bush, the present one, who is supervising a massacre in Iraq, the same country that he was supposed to liberate from Saddam, who will not even be questioned by anyone who can do anything about it. So Saddam is sentenced to hang by a court set up by a country led by a man whose war is killing thousands of the same people that Saddam is being sentenced to hang for slaughtering.
So much for justice.
Jackass sey di worl' no level. Jackass sey if Saddam fi heng, den Bush fi get at leas' a bruck foot.
