Deadly taxi ride

By Sacha Walters, Staff Reporter

A taxi ride turned deadly on Wednesday night for two unsuspecting robbers.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. the two unidentified men were travelling in the car with two other passengers and the driver along Drumblair Crescent.

The men attempted to rob the passengers when, to their surprise one of the passengers was an off-duty police officer from the Special Anti-Crime Task Force.

A struggle ensued and the officer shot both men with his service pistol. The officer was shot in the right arm during the struggle.

The two robbers were taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
