Although the murders of their children have long been solved, at least three adults are finding it difficult to bring closure to the experience of losing a child or a relative.
For the mothers and relatives of Shaneal Raffington, Tyrone and Tyriq Henry, Moesha Lee and Shantel Miller, a solved murder does not always mean closure.
"I'm not doing well because each time I remember it I break down and cry," said Sherine Frazer, Raffington's mother. Raffington was killed in August last year while on her way with her mother. She was shot in the head. Her killer was held shortly after, but Frazer has a difficult time going on.
GSAT results
"I'm in the same situation as most of the mothers who have lost their children because it is hard," she said.
For Dave Johnson, Shantel Miller's uncle, his situation is similar. His niece was shot dead last year weeks before her GSAT results were published.
"It hard man because all di likkle bway wha did deh pon di bed get gage. Him not even like talk bout it," he said.
And for Pansy Henry, she misses her children and has even recorded a song about her ordeal. Her children Moesha Lee and twin brothers Tyrone and Tyriq Henry were burnt to death in their homes in 2004. She still feels the pain more than two years later.
"Mi miss them because nobody else dem image. No matter how much children yuh have yuh caan replace dem," she said.
Although those murders have been cleared up, THE STAR still needs your help in attempting to solve the murders of Jovaughn Williams, Sasha-Kaye Brown, Shanika Anderson, Sheneca Shakes, Shauna-Kay Legister, Nicholas Baker, Oksana Douglas, Toni-Ann Thomas and Maurice Maxwell.
Williams was shot and killed in June 2004 along with his mother in Rose Heights, St. James. Sheneca Shakes and her friend Shauna-Kay Legister were found dead in a cane field in August last year. The youngsters were found dead a day after they went missing. Maurice Maxwell was killed as he sat on his verandah. Shanika Anderson was found raped and murdered on May 1 last year, a day after a man lured her away from the Coronation Market.
Toni-Ann Thomas was murdered after gunmen sprayed her York Avenue community with bullets. Nicholas Baker was killed in the Chinese Cemetery last July by men who allegedly gave him a gun to put down. Sasha-Kaye Brown was killed last year along with relatives when gunmen fired on her home and then set it on fire while Douglas was killed during a drive-by in the Olympic Gardens area in December last year.
