Reprisal for Bogle's death? - Cops examine link with Beenie's brother's murder and dancer's 2005 killing.

Homicide detectives from the St. Andrew North Division, are investigating whether the death of Brian Smith, Beenie Man's brother, is in anyway connected to the 2005 killing of dancer Gerald 'Bogle' Levy.

Smith, 32, who was one of the first persons questioned following Bogle's death, was shot dead on Saturday night in Pinto District, St. Andrew on Saturday night.

Police reported that about 11:10 p.m., Smith was among several persons standing at a piazza when he was approached by a group of men. The men reportedly attacked Smith, shooting and stabbing him several times. He died at the Kingston Public Hospital, while being treated.

Smith was well known to the Stony Hill Police, as he reported there on gun charges.

Even as he celebrated the imminent birth of his son, Beenie Man could not hide his grief. The emotional deejay, though confirming Smith was his brother, was too distraught and overcome with sorrow, to comment, while at the baby shower held for his wife, D'angel.

Police at the Stony Hill Police Station however, confirmed that Smith was no stranger to them as he had to report there several times after receiving bail on gun related charges. It is not certain whether Smith had any matter before the court up to the time of his death.

Police also confirmed that Smith was questioned in Bogle's death as he and the dancer had a minor confrontation, when Bogle had intervened in a dispute between Smith and a deejay at a popular show. It was after leaving this show that Bogle was shot dead.
