Jeepers Creepers - Outrageously hype party

The Edna Manley School of Music Auditorium was the scene of an outrageously-hype party last Friday night as the school hosted its freshers' fête, dubbed 'Jeepers Creepers'.

There was nothing creepy about the party. The fashion was by no means eerie since there were only a few patrons who attempted to follow the Friday the 13th spine-chilling theme. However, it was not the fashion that carried the swing. It was the musical prowess of ZJ Chrome, from ZIP FM, and the party fanatic patrons who danced all night long.

When THE STAR team arrived at the venue at minutes to midnight, local selector, DJ Rrrr was at the turntables doing his thing and had the patrons bouncing. The musical selection was of a dance-oriented nature and songs from Elephant Man and Voicemail ruled this segment. But it was Elephant Man's Mad Run that brought pandemonium to the dance floor.

Baby Cham's Vitamin S did not create chaos, but it literally took a couple to the floor and attracted an audience.

acrobatic moves

A young man, who did not look to be more than 14 years old, excited the party nerves of the patrons with several breathtaking acrobatic moves. His stunning moves seemed to please the patrons so much so that they paused dancing and allowed him to showcase his talent for several minutes.

The introduction of ZJ Chrome created an unusual hype in the venue. The patrons were not dancing as much; however the tempo was like no other experienced throughout the night. Chrome's selecting was so pulsating that hands frequented the air and roars became commonplace inside the venue which emulated a club scene.

What really took the cake was Chrome's introduction. He instructed the patrons to keep quiet and listen, but this proved futile as the patrons could not help but erupt with excitement at regular intervals. The intro set the foundation for what was to be a spectacular showing. Cham's voice over the speaker singing: "When wi a bun b.t.y boy wi nuh do it an' seh sorry" on Bone Crusher's Never Scared rhythm, had the patrons screaming in approval. Several 50 Cent followed that kept the earlier hype going.

Chrome really set the trend when he began mixing several Beenie Man dubs on hip hop rhythms. The one that really got the patrons reacting frantically was Beenie's Red Red Red on 50's P.I.M.P. rhythm.

When THE STAR team left the venue at minutes after 1 a.m. Saturday morning, Chrome was still in his prime, 'dropping' several mixes that he claimed was a part of his early segment behind the turntables.
