A case that is now before the court where a man was allegedly found with four rounds of .357 Magnum cartridges, was adjourned on Thursday for the defence to present its case on November 2 when the case will again be mentioned.
The Crown led evidence that on April 14 this year, 25-year-old Jason Martin, of Thompson Pen, St. Catherine, was caught with four live .357 Magnum and a .9mm rounds in his pants pocket.
Two policemen who gave evidence from the stand, outlined to the court that about 5:30 the morning in question, they proceeded to Beacon Avenue, near Thompson Pen. They claimed that upon their arrival, a group of men ran, leaving Martin, who was searched and the ammunition found. He was subsequently charged.
Defence Attorney, Peter Champagnie, in cross examining the policemen, told them that they had picked up the ammunition and that his client was never in possession of any such items. The policemen maintained that he was caught.
The lawyer called a potential witness and asked the lawmen whether they had seen the man before. They both denied seeing the man. It was then that both the Crown and the defence decided to reconvene November 2 to have the defence present its case.
