The lead story in yesterday's STAR broke the news that popular DJ, Rodney 'Bounty Killer' Pryce had been ordered to undergo anger management therapy.
This order comes months after the deejay was accused of assaulting the mother of his child. According to the story, Pryce was charged after he reportedly punched the complainant several times in the face, dragged her some distance and slammed her head into a wall. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The 'Warlord' had earlier been sent to the Dispute Resolution Foundation, in hopes that things between himself and the child's mother could be pacified. This new order, however, will focus on helping the artiste change his attitude.
Several entertainers have found themselves before the court and many seem to think they are above the law. It is good to see that the presiding magistrate in Pryce's case is pulling out all the stops to ensure that the case ends positively.
Reformation is an important part of justice and in many cases, therapy or counselling can have more effect than a long custodial sentence. In Pryce's case, this is perhaps the best thing the magistrate could have done. If Pryce does not attempt to make changes within himself, it is very possible that he could reappear in court for similar charges.
Officials at the Dispute Resolution Foundation say the programme has influenced many lives and are confident that counselling can bring about positive changes.
