Special seats for disabled at Cricket World Cup

In keeping with the govern-ment's latest thrust to promote Jamaica as a 'disabled-friendly destination', there will be special seats for the disabled at Sabina Park, when World Cup Cricket begins next year.

In a JIS release, Venue Development Director for the Jamaica Local Organising Com-mittee, Chris Smith, said "approximately 0.5 per cent of the seating" will be reserved for disabled individuals.

These special seats will be available in all the various sections of the stands, including the bleachers, suites, grandstands and the mounds. The decision was influenced by the Ministry of Labour and Social Security's Friendly City 2007 project, a campaign designed to promote Jamaica as a country with all the required infrastructure for the disabled.

The first six first round group stage matches of the ICC CWC 2007, will be hosted at Sabina Park. The tournament begins in March.
