Soldier and civilian injured in shoot-out

A soldier and a man were injured during a shoot-out between the police and gunmen along Jarrett Road in Mountain View yesterday morning.

According to police reports a joint police and military team were patrolling the stretch when gunmen fired at the police.

The police returned fire and a shoot-out followed. When it ended the police searched the area, during which time they found one man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he was admitted in serious but stable condition.

The soldier was also found to be injured after the shoot-out, but it is not clear what caused the injury.

The Kingston Eastern police are investigating.
