A tormented decision

Dear Pastor,

I am 33 years old and was dating a man who is 21 years old. After many months of togetherness, I decided to end the relationship as this individual tended to be very impulsive and got into legal trouble. I am tormented over the decision and would like to go back to him although we have not spoken for awhile. Would I be out of place to call him? Or should I just let him go? I also have three children who are 17, 15, and 11.

M. S., Toronto, Canada

Dear M. S.,

I wonder why you are tormented by the decision you made. If this guy was always getting into trouble with the law, why should you have him as your man? That does not make any sense at all. I observe that you are twelve years older than this guy and you have children. What have you missed? His love or his youthful stamina?

I suggest you should leave this guy alone. To ask him to return to you is to set up yourself for trouble. You want a man in your life, not a boy who is always getting himself into trouble.

Pastor
