A man accused of raping a 19-year-old woman in the presence of her two-year-old daughter, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
When Ainsley Rhoden, of a Mall Road, Kingston 11 address, appeared before RM Martin Gayle, he told the court that he did not know what he was charged with.
According to the court files, on August 19, about 9:15 p.m., the complainant was walking along Tangerine Road, with her daughter. The accused allegedly began trailing her on a bicycle. According to the complainant's statement, the accused pushed her onto a truck and told her daughter to look away. He then allegedly emptied marijuana from a plastic bag, used it as a condom and raped her.
It is also alleged that the accused told the complainant to perform oral sex on him, but she refused. He reportedly told her that she would get away this time because her daughter was present, but that he would get her on another occasion. The complainant was afraid to report the matter, but her daughter told a cousin who took her to the station and reported the matter.
Rhoden was later arrested and charged. He is to return to court on September 22.
