Fair Prospect beat Paul Bogle 8-0

Adrian Frater and Richard Bryan , Star Writers

Fair Prospect, behind five goals from Roger Wilson, gave newcomers Paul Bogle a solid 8-0 baptism yesterday as action kicked off in Zone L of the 2006 ISSA/Pepsi/JN daCosta Cup kicked off with four games.

In the other three Zone L games, Titchfield blanked Yallahs 3-0, St. Thomas Technical clipped Happy Grove 2-1 while Port Antonio edged Seaforth 1-0.

Favoured teams Spaldings High and Clarendon registered contrasting wins as daCosta Cup action opened in Manchester and Clarendon yesterday.

knox whipped

From Zone G in Manchester, Spaldings whipped neighbours Knox 3-0 with a goal from Kevon daCosta (first half) and second half strikes from Yande Evans and Shaday Mason.

In the zone's other encounter, Holmwood, who should figure in the mix for eventual zone honours, laboured to 0-0 away draw to Porus.

At the Turners field in Clarendon, Group H opened with Clarendon College defeating Thompson Town 2-1.

The zone's other game in Frankfield where Edwin Allen hosted Lennon, rain had the final say, as only first half action was possible with the visitors leading 1-0 .

Clarendon had to depend on Netfa Stewart's penalty on the heels of half-time and Gregory Lewis' second half strike to settle the surprise contest inspired by the fifteen minute melee strike of the previously unfancied losers.

yellow cards

At Porus, referee Kevin Morisson showed cards to Rohan Bailey (Porus) and the Holmwood pair of Bonitto Daley and Miguel Antoine.

Holmwood showed better organisation, but the game was closely contested with both teams getting very few opportunities to take the game.

The early complexion of the zone could be known by Saturday, when the top team from last year, Christiana, bows into action against Holmwood.
