Deacon and cohorts to return to court

Donovan Jones, the deacon slapped with sexual molestation charges arising from the case involving a 14-year-old school girl, and his co-accused James Rodgers, appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magi-strate's Court on Tuesday.

When they last appeared before RM Martin Gayle, he ordered the prosecution to contact the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) so the case could be transferred to the Circuit Court. Because this was not yet been achieved, the men will has to return to court on September 15. It is hoped that the DPP or a representative from the office will be in attendance then.

Jones was again remanded and Rodgers' $500,000 bail was extended. Both are part of a four-man ring charged with molesting the young girl. The others, Shamar Morgan, 18, and a 15-year-old boy, pleaded guilty to four counts each of indecent assault. They are to be sentenced on Friday, September 15.
