Illegal firearm seized

Police on Saturday recovered another illegal, high powered weapon. A man and his female companion were arrested in connection with the seizure which took place along Nelson Road in the Kingston 13 area. Howard Jackson, 23, of Nelson Road and Rosemarie Miller of Richmond Park, Kingston 10, were both charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.

Reports from the Constabulary Communication Network are that at about 6:30 a.m., a joint police and military operation was carried out in the Kingston 13 area. During the operation, a house occupied by both was searched. A M1 Springfield rifle, serial number 2988214, and nine rounds of ammunition were found. The Mobile Reserve Unit is investigating.
