THE EDITOR, Sir:

It is somewhat disheartening to say, but I have come to the realisation that the popular precept: "A woman can have the most successful men her looks can attract, and a man can have the most beautiful women he can afford" is true to some extent.

In these days, I believe that some men are being reduced to merely 'sperm donors and wallets', it is a serious problem in society that is, unfortunately, becoming more common every day.

There are some women who go after affluent men in order to drive in their expensive cars and collect as much cash as they possibly can. I have heard some women say that 'money has a way of making ugly men seem attractive. I really don't understand that and I'm sure many people would dismiss it.

Many men however, have been blighted to have only dated women of this nature and so they come to the conclusion that all women are gold-diggers. I strongly disagree. I think these men should 'think outside the box'.

cannot be bought

A real woman cannot be bought. I absolutely hate it when a man flashes or brags about what he has because he thinks that's the way to get a woman to like him. Maybe some girls will fall for it, but the real women out there know the deal. It's not about what you have but who you are. Now don't get me wrong, all women love nice things, but there is no monetary value for a woman or a man's worth. Any man who thinks he is being taken advantage of should set some guidelines or get out of the relationship, it is not worth your time.

Money does not last forever, and the 'gold-diggers' will leave as soon as the cash does.

Occasional surprise gifts are always nice. Women should enjoy giving gifts just as much as they enjoy receiving them. What exasperates most men is when some women make those annoying little hints like, 'I have always wanted " but I can't find it anywhere' or purposely drop out of their purse 12 pictures of the handbag they've been eyeing at the mall.

The best gift is trust and compromise. In today's society many women are choosing to have careers and jobs of their own, this is positive as it assures men that the women will not necessarily rely on them for financial support. It is unfair to group all women as one, we are very different.

For men who believe that they are confounded to only attracting these so-called gold-diggers I want to stress this, no guy is going to gain anything by spending his entire pay cheque on a date. If you have money and don't mind giving it away, why not find a charity? Don't waste money on trying to get women to sleep with you or date you. It is far better to use your cash for your own enjoyment.
